The Barrie Ryusei Karate Dojo (Facebook) is run by Peter Giffen. He is a 7th-degree black belt with more than 50 years of experience. His instructor is Shane Higashi, head of the Canadian Chito-Ryu Karate Association. He also practices kobudo (the art of Okinawan weaponry) . He has travelled several times to train in Japan, three times under Master Tsuyoshi Chitose, judan (10th-degree black belt) and founder of Chito-Ryu karate. Peter is currently the technical director for Ryusei Karate-Do Canada.
