Jenn Sykes & Rob McDowell

Jenn Sykes, Tif Gallant and Rob McDowell are currently practicing together to understand Sakamoto-Sensei’s interpretation of classical Chito-Ryu karate.

Jenn Sykes (She/Her) has been studying and teaching karate for more than 20 years. She emphasizes adjusting the technique to fit the person so that our differences can be strengths rather than obstacles.

Tiff Gallant

Tif Gallant (They/Them) has been involved in karate since the early 2000s as a member of the Canadian Chito-Ryu Karate Association. They have a 3rd-degree black belt and Junshidoin (junior instructor level).  The main goals of their karate journey are to create and promote safe spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community, and reach that golden balance between the mental and physical aspects of martial arts.

Rob McDowell (He/Him) has been training in karate since 2012 and holds the rank of shodan (1st-degree black belt). His focus is speed and precision, and his favorite part of karate is assisting students in developing skills, gaining confidence, and becoming the best versions of themselves.
